Thought Leaders in Active Transportation Planning
As a program of BikeTexas, BikePedEd promotes effective planning strategies for a sustainable and vibrant urban environment.
Rooted in Education and Advocacy
Since our inception, BikePedEd has been dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of active transportation. Our comprehensive courses reflect years of expertise in urban planning and infrastructure development, designed for professionals seeking to enhance their skills.
Educational Infrastructure Workshops
We have produced infrastructure ebike tours for transportation engineers, planners, municipal staff and elected officials for decades. Our conferences and mobile workshops are geared towards planners, engineers and policy makers to experience active transportation first hand.

Three Decades of Transforming Texas
Since 1991, we have secured over $3 billion for bicycle infrastructure, transforming Texas transportation. From rare bike lanes to voter-approved cycling bonds, we have driven significant change in community infrastructure.
Legislative Victories
We turned a vetoed 2009 statewide 3-foot safe passing bill into local success, with 27 municipalities adopting the rule. We pioneered the nation’s first electric bicycle law and introduced the Matthew Brown Act, enabling over $1 billion in federal Safe Routes to School funding.
Infrastructure That Connects
We advocated for TxDOT’s Bicycle Coordinator role and served on state highway advisory committees. Through our programs we’ve helped fund over 1,000 miles of bike lanes and hundreds of miles of trails. We were the catalyst for an 8,000-mile State Active Transportation Plan and Texas Bicycle Tourism Trails Network. Our initiatives helped put bike racks on busses and accommodation of bikes on rail at many transit authorities.
Education and Professional Development
Our programs have trained 8,000 PE teachers, delivering 10 million hours of bike safety education to 2 million children, plus 7,500 future teachers at 15 universities. Our conferences unite professionals to design inclusive infrastructure, and over 400 congressional meetings have secured $2 billion for trail and safety programs.
