Amelia Neptune oversees the League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly America program, which includes the Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC), Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB), and Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) award programs. Before joining the League in 2013, Amelia worked as the Campus Bicycle Coordinator at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (a Silver-level BFU!) and she credits the League’s 2011 BFU feedback report for her career transition from ‘Campus Sustainability Specialist’ to ‘Campus Bicycle Coordinator’ at the University.
Amelia’s background is in environmental sustainability; She previously worked for The Nature Conservancy and holds a MS in Environmental Sciences and Policy from The Johns Hopkins University and a BA from Pitzer College in Claremont, CA. Amelia now lives car-free in Washington, DC, and when she’s not working to create a more Bicycle Friendly America for everyone, she is most likely gardening or on a bike ride with her two young daughters on their family’s e-cargo bike.
