Elizabeth Jones holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communications and public affairs. She has spent most of her career in pedestrian and bicycle safety with an emphasis on child pedestrian safety advocacy. She served as the Pedestrian Safety Program Manager for Atlanta Public Schools in Atlanta, Georgia, managing the district’s School Crossing Guard program. She created a program to train parents and community leaders to be volunteer crossing guards, creating a broader understanding of child pedestrian safety in the city of Atlanta.
Later, Elizabeth was a School Outreach Coordinator with Georgia Safe Routes to School under GDOT. She managed traffic safety programs in the North Georgia region that helped make school zones safer for students to walk and bike to school, by introducing alternative routes to the communities she served. She also partnered with Georgia Bikes to coordinate community events and bike rodeos throughout the region she served.
After relocating to Texas, she became a Traffic Safety Specialist in the TxDOT Dallas District. She recently started a new position as the Program Manager for TxDOT Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety program area where she manages statewide bike/ped grants, campaigns, media buys and advertising in her program area.
