Rodney Franklin

Director of State Parks, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
Rodney Franklin currently serves as the Division Director for Texas State Parks. Rodney started his career with TPWD working as a seasonal employee at a small historic site in Paris, Texas – the Sam Bell Maxey House. After graduating from Texas A&M, he went on to manage that site and was later promoted to Lake Bob Sandlin in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. After six years there, Rodney became the Complex Manager at Cooper Lake State Park for eight years before becoming the Regional Director of the State Parks Region 5. He served as the Regional Director in Waco until August 2017 when he accepted the position of Deputy Division Director. Rodney served as the Division Deputy Director for over a year before accepting the role as Division Director in December 2018. Like many that work for State Parks, he enjoys the outdoors and the work we do at TPWD.
