Description

Learn about the implementation of the Floyd Curl Green Street, a complete-street in the South Texas Medical Center, which has has pioneered the use of green space and Active Transportation Infrastructure to elevate the district into a healthy place. This session will share the unique partnerships involved in implementation, along with lessons-learned and a sneak-peak of future district projects. Plans, photography and drone footage will be used to give you a ‘first person’ experience.

Identification of Need: To improve pedestrian and bicycle mobility and safety; Use trails to elevate the brand of the South Texas Medical Center

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize how active trail networks can contribute to the health and well being of a Medical District
  • Identify the physical relationship of street, sidewalk, cycle track, and trailheads
  • Explain funding mechanisms such as TXDOT, Municipal and Public Improvement Districts
